Software is made by human beings, which means that the coding used to make the software may or will have mistakes. Software made by either big or small companies no matter what programs they make will have flaws. It all depends on how it is being used because even the smallest may be found within a simple or hard place. Bugs that are found tend to have an update within 2/4weeks. The patches come out with more features, but these update patches tend to take a while to download and install. When it comes to installing or upgrading a computer software there can be many cons and pros after the installation or upgrade has happened.

Pros to installing or upgrading software.
Security: when any software is made there are generally many weak spots, which makes it possible for illegal hackers to manipulate, steal or damage data. All software provides tools for security to help protect the user and the software.

Bug Fix: Bug fixes on the updated version of the software clear out any bugs that were in the previous version, so the users that updated will not see or come across them.

User interface:  Sometimes when an update comes out, the user interface (UI) changes to make it much simpler for users to navigate around. This will make more happy customers because of the easy navigation. Some users may have to get use to the minor change layouts.

Keeps computer working: By keeping software up to date, any user can ensure that their system works as it is designed to. Computers can pick up bugs over time, which reduce performance and sometimes cause the system to crash.

Free updates:  when software if brought, you will never have to buy updates as they are provided to you for free to fix bugs or to make it more user friendly.

Smoother application running:  When an update is out and downloaded on to a system, the software would more than likely run much smoother than the older version of the software.  This is more likely because the software is using fewer resources on the hardware.

New features:  Once computer software has been updated a user may be able to see new features of the software which will help the user create more with their imagination.

Cons to installing new or upgrading software.
1. New Bugs: When software or an upgrade is downloaded by a user the software might get some new bugs, some of which could even stop the use of older data files.  In some cases, software updates may actually be intended to stop a user from doing things that the user found helpful. For example, an early iTunes update stopped users from uploading content from their iPods in order for Apple to have better control of the content purchased from their iTunes store.

2. User Interface (UI):  Whilst a new user interface is a good thing it can also be annoying for users when they have to take time to re-learn portions of the software. Some items may have moved, and some tasks might be done in different ways.

3. Size: sometimes when a new or an upgrade of software it available, the size of the files is sometimes huge so it will take very long to download and install due to the size. The size of the software may take allot of space in the harddrive or can and may slowdown the computer.

4. Settings: When upgrading a software is in process and it has finished installing, sometimes the upgrade deletes the settings that the user set when they were using the software before the upgrade.

Time: some times when upgrading software it may take time to download and install which may stop people from doing work for somtime due to the size of the file, speed of the computer  and speed of the internet.

Run of application: Sometimes when software is updated it could either use or use less of the hardwares resources. If the software is more demanding on the hardware, the computer would have to work harder inorder to keep up with the demands.

Instability: Sometimes when an update is out and not fully tested, it could lead to the software not being stable and can cause the computer to crash the software often.

Policy: policies may change due to new features within the update describing what you may or may not do with the new features thus restricting your creativity.

Whenever Something new comes out  people get excited with high hopes which is normal. A software upgrade may benefit the software though all the new things it brings such as how ir may look, feel  and work but it could also have a negitive affect by failed ‘improvements’ of the software. As we all know humans arent perfect and we do make mistakes which arent stopped until realised, so we should be cautious when installing or upgrading software. A top tip to do when wanting to upgrade or download a piece of software is to wait a few weeks, to see reviews of the software for you to make a decistion for yourself. By doing this you will not waste your time nor money with the software upgrade that wouldn’t be worth it at that time.
